31 DBC: Intro & Recent Photo

Hello! I’m Bridgette, aka BLT - yes, like the sandwich, but not because of the sandwich. I do like BLT's & I do like my initials! :)

I am BEYOND blessed.

I am a 28 year old blogger, DIY-er, photographer, and wanna-be chef (& I am only good at one of these things – so far).

I’m definitely a country mouse, though I currently live in, quite possibly, the smallest town in Kentucky. So no wide open nature just yet for me, but until then, it’s the scenery of a traffic light, my mother in laws house, three churches, two gas stations, the fire/police department, and tons of traffic (provided by farm equipment, motorcycles, bicycles, school buses, and semi trucks).

My husband is currently self-employed & in the process of getting a degree in, what I like to call, all things technology, so he can work from home (instead of away from home).

Considering what I do now, my prior work experience is rather boring. I have spent my share of time as a waitress, cleaning places, & working at a few factories. Now, although some days it seems impossible to figure out ways to make an income from home (if anyone can help me in this area – I’d be forever grateful!!!), I wouldn't trade it for anything. Sometimes being a stay at home isn't the easiest choice to make, nor the most financially rewarding - but seeking the eternal in this choice I am investing in - is something I don't believe will be a regret.

Because of the decision to stay at home, to spend time with, take care of, invest in, and manage my household, I am currently taking a (short?) break from college. When actually taking classes, I am pursuing degrees in psychology, writing, mental counseling, and ministry leadership. I love going beneath the surface of people. Overall, I really love to think and learn.

My husband & I have known each other since 3rd grade, however, nothing was really explored until our senior year of high school. Since then, we got married and we have two incredible children, who are 10 & 7. They are the smartest & best kids that you will ever meet. They take after their mother – and father. ;) Throughout the years we have also had several pets, and right now, we just have two snakes (which we have had for a year and a half), and a sweet doggie – Brock who we are fostering until he is finished with his Heart-Worm medication (so far, we have had the sweet fellow for a few months).

Other things to know:
// I am a Christian. After my mothers tragic, unexpected death, I got saved after she passed away. (For those of you who would like for me to expand, on my testimony & what a difference being saved in my live has made in comparison to not being saved, I will).
// I lived in Tennessee until I was seven & my accent is still as strong as ever.
// Although I am not sure on the location or time, we are preparing to move the country. This is when we will really settle down. We will continue our homeschooling journey. We will also homestead. We live in a baghouse, grow the hugest garden we have ever had, and have lots of animals to retrieve milk, eggs, and meat from. For fun pets will include - snakes, horses, dogs, and fish.
// This year, I’m hoping, will be our first year to experiment with canning & trying out jam, salsa, and relish, etc. recipes from our garden. If anyone has done this before – got any tips?
// I love helping people. People say this is a blessing & a curse. This sometimes gets me in trouble with other priorities that I have previously made (ex: late to work because someone’s car broke down, or helping someone who needs a shoulder instead of doing schoolwork [ah hem])
// Favorites: TV: Bill Cosby, Dick Van Dyke, Leave it to Beaver, Full House, MythBusters, etc. MUSIC: Gungor, Josh Wilson, Newsboys, Bluetree, Nick Cave & Warren Ellis, Shawn McDonald, and scores to movies – The Assassination...by…Robert Ford,  The Fountain, Dances With Wolves, Inception, etc.
// I love to: participate in Bible Studies, make lists, drink sweet tea (preferably from a mason jar), thrift, read/learn, make lists, take endless amounts of photos, watch reruns of my favorite shows (especially with my kids),
play video games, draw, create/listen to music, & try new recipes.
// I love collecting all things vintage & glass pieces.
// Picnics, bowling, & skating are always super amounts of fun, and there is NEVER a wrong time to go four-wheeler riding or camping.

Here are some recent (& silly) photos of me.
